2010 Blog entries:
December 6th:
Just received my copy of impressive new Handbook of the Birds of the World - Volume 15: Weavers to New World Warblers. A handbook by name but not by nature, this penultimate volume in the Lynx Edicions HBW series weighs over 4kg and contains several of my photos of endangered species. A perfect coffee table and reference book!

November 10th:
Added a trip report summarising our recent trip to Papua New Guinea, where we spent 4 days birding from our base in the highlands of Enga Province at Kumul Lodge and 4 days birding and diving around Kimbe Bay on the Island of New Britain from our base at the Walindi Plantation Resort.
The report includes some narrative about our experiences, lots of photos and an annotated list of bird sightings.

Follow the Trip Reports tab to locate the new PNG section and then download the .pdf file from there.

September 24th:
Added 2 photo galleries from Malaysia into the Photos - Asia & Pacific folder. Also included the final trip report from Malaysia into the Trip Reports section.

September 16th:
Added a selection of images from our recent trip to Papua New Guinea - see the PNG section of the 'Photos - Asia & Pacific' tab.

September 15th:
Added a trip report summarising my two recent trips to Sabah, Malaysia on the island of Borneo. I was visiting Sabah in order to contribute to the UNESCO/Earthwatch/Shell Foundation 'Business Skills for World Heritage Sites' programme where I worked with several colleagues to work with staff from three natural World Heritage Sites. In my trip report I have included some narrative about my experiences, lots of photos and an annotated list of bird and mammal sightings during my time around Kota Kinabalu/Tambunan/Mt Kinabalu and then the Danum Valley Conservation Area. If anyone can confirm the identify of the juvenile pink-legged Jungle-Flycatcher that I seem to have found way above its upper altitudinal range (as described in Myers' guide) then that would be much appreciated!

Follow the Trip Reports tab to locate the new Malaysia section and then download the .pdf file from there.

September 14th:
Received a copy of the book "Nightjars of the World" by Nigel Cleere (WILDGuides) to which I was a contributing photographer. Good friend Tony Crease, who recently studied nesting of a Roraiman
Nightjar also
has a large collection of his photos included. Looks like a great product, being a comprehensive guide to the 135 species of nightjars, frogmouths, potoos, Oilbird and owlet-nightjars of the world, including plenty of excellent photographs and information. Sales of the book also support BirdLife International's Preventing Extinctions Programme.

September 12th:
Just back from a series of exciting trips to Malaysian Borneo (Sabah) and Papua New Guinea (Enga Province and West New Britain). I will be adding trip reports and photo galleries, but for now a Great Argus at Danum Valley Field Centre ...
